SWIM TEAM POOL USE -- from your swim team...
The Sibley Forest Seahorses swim team practices are in full swing. This week finishes out the afternoon practices that have been closing the pool to non-swim team swimmers each day from 4:15- 6:30 pm. But, this Friday, May 31, will be the last afternoon practice and the pool will be closed to non-team members till 6:30 p.m. when it will then open to all residents for swimming.
Next week starts morning swimming practices -- weekdays, 8:45 - noon, through June 28. The pool is closed to all except swim team swimmers at these times.
When the swim team practices, the pool is closed to all except actual swim team members actively engaged in swimming. For safety reasons, siblings of swim team participants are not allowed to swim in the baby or adult pools while their siblings are practicing -- they can create a wet deck and slippery conditions for the many team members practicing. Non-swimmers are also not allowed to play on the non-covered pool deck area.
SWIM MEETS: Note, the pool will also be closed for home swim meets on June 3, 5 and 24 from 3:45 p.m. onwards.
Sibley Forest Seahorses is a 20+ year tradition. We appreciate your continued support of this sporting activity for our children.
NEW GRILL - from your HOA board....
You may have noticed we have a new grill area near the baby pool. This beautiful set up is for your use. Please share the grill with other neighbors. There are very comprehensive instructions near the grills about how to use them, turn on and off the gas, etc. Since the grill area is near the baby pool, please be sure to turn grill off after use (and the gas) and pick up any implements you may have used while grilling.
JULY 4TH - from the Women's Club...
Our annual Sibley Forest July 4th Parade will take place on July 4th. Come out and see your neighbors and friends parade down Gunby Road decorated for the holiday. More information to come.
USE OF POOL BY RESIDENTS AND GUESTS - from the Pool Committee...
Please keep in mind our pool is for homeowners and their guests only. All guest must be accompanied by a homeowner. Guest not accompanied by a homeowner will be ask to leave. For the safety of our children, and to abide by Cobb County rules, please remember to always close the gate.
To the parents and grandparents of young swimmers, please note.... There are strict rules concerning the dressing of non-potty trained children when you bring them to the pool. This is to avoid pool fecal contamination and to keep the pool from closing and inconveniencing 300 residents, as a result of one parent's oversight.
All children/babies requiring diapers MUST wear a single piece waterproof "rubber" outer diaper pants over their swim diapers when in either the large or baby pools. This is required for ALL brands of diapers, including Little Swimmers, Pull Ups, Easy Ups and Training Pants. If your child requires a diaper, please purchase your rubber pants now as they tend to sell out quickly. A good place to purchase your child's rubber proof pants is Wal-Mart. Go to www.walmart.com and search "Gerber waterproof baby pants."
According to health department rules, if a child has an accident, to avoid someone getting very ill, the pool must be thoroughly cleaned and closed for 24 hours. Accidents do happen. If an accident happens, please inform the lifeguard immediately. Questions? Contact volunteer pool chairperson Susan Van Dyke.
Driving safely on our streets - from Communications....
It's summertime, and walkers, strollers, bikers and runners are out in full force. This is a beautiful time of year to enjoy getting out and about. Please slow down and be extra careful driving our streets. A few people have emailed the communications person -- that would be me :-) -- about people speeding in the neighborhood, and, scary to think, texting (adults and teens) while driving in Sibley. Might be a good idea for those of us walking and biking to be extra aware of who's driving around us, too.
Enjoy the beauty of Sibley Forest and your start of summer!
