Just a few reminders...
  • Watch children closely AT ALL TIMES.
  • Guests visiting our pool must be accompanied by a resident.
  • Lifeguards are not responsible for guarding the wading (“baby”) pool at any time.
  • Children under age 12 must be accompanied, and directly supervised, by a parent or caregiver. Caregivers must be at least 16 years of age and preferably 18 or older.
  • The wading pool is for use by children 5 and under and their caregivers ONLY. This includes lifeguard breaks and during any swim team practices and events. No exceptions. Please abide by this policy for the safety of our youngest neighbors.
  • All children who are not potty-trained must wear a swim diaper AND tight-fitting plastic pants. For health reasons, please use the restroom area for diaper changes.
  • Pets and glass containers are prohibited, per county health department regulations.
  • For safety reasons, please do not prop the gates open.
  • Parties (groups of more than 10, including residents) must be planned at least two weeks in advance to ensure adequate lifeguard coverage. See website for details.
  • Residents wishing to use the pool outside of normal operating hours must sign and return a release form (available at www.sibleyforest.net). Children may not use the pool outside of normal hours without an adult present under any circumstances.

From Beth Warren, 2016 volunteer pool chairperson - pool@sibleyforest.net

Neighbors – With the start of our swim season, I wanted to share some important water safety information with you. Please pass along this short video to anyone who serves as a caregiver for children at our neighborhood pool.

This is a frightening subject, but it is so important for parents, grandparents and other caregivers to know what to watch for. A person who is drowning is unable to wave or cry out for help, and he/she will typically become submerged – and therefore very hard to see in a busy pool – in less than one minute.

Lifeguards are present at our pool to enhance safety, but they cannot provide direct supervision for every child. Let’s keep our eyes on the pool this summer and keep our children safe.

It is strongly recommended that non-swimmers and novice swimmers using the main pool be accompanied in the water by a parent/caregiver OR wear a Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (“PFD”), such as a swim vest or  “Puddle Jumper”. The HOA has a limited number of infant and toddler PFDs available in the lifeguard room for use at our pool. PFDs are not intended to take the place of adult supervision.

Here’s to a safe and enjoyable summer!
